Role Summary


CCI is seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Development Associate to join our passionate team. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in driving our fundraising efforts, contributing to the achievement of our mission, and organizational growth. This position is designed to be broad and diverse, reflecting the expectation that the Development Associate will serve as the right-hand person to the Director of Development, contributing extensively to the overall success and growth of the organization. We are seeking an individual who can not only fulfill the outlined responsibilities but also actively create value for the department through innovative and strategic contributions. The successful candidate will have excellent attention to detail, and excel at research and tracking projects. This role will be multifaceted, working directly with the Director of Development on a wide range of tasks. Most importantly, the successful candidate must possess a deep commitment to the mission of the Charter Cities Institute.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Fundraising Strategy:
    • Contribute to discussions on donor strategy, specific fundraising priorities, and annual planning.
  • Grant Management:
    • Collaborate on ensuring compliance with donor requirements for existing grants, including monitoring and reporting, to support the organization’s initiatives.
  • Donor Stewardship:
    • Collaborate with the director of development to implement effective donor stewardship strategies to strengthen relationships with individual supporters and partners.
    • Assist with donor communication, including creating and managing donor newsletters.
    • Coordinate email blasts to donors, keeping them informed about the organization’s progress and impact.
    • Conduct direct outreach to donors as needed, ensuring a proactive and personalized approach.
  • Campaign Management:
    • Work across departments to develop appropriate collateral and materials to engage and inform donors.
  • Database Management:
    • Maintain the integrity of the donor database, utilizing HubSpot as our preferred donor management software.
    • Ensure accurate and up-to-date donor records using HubSpot.
  • Event management 
    • Manage the logistics around high stakes donor events to engage potential new supporters and steward current donors.


Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree in any field is preferred.
  • Proven track record in nonprofit fundraising, with expertise in individual giving, grants, and campaign management.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in using HubSpot (experience with any CRM is acceptable) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a remote team environment.

Position Details


The role is for a full-time, fully-remote position. Candidates who live in the Washington D.C. metro area may elect to work some days at CCI’s shared workspace.
